The Higher Aim of "Great Reflections"

The Higher Aim of “Great Reflections”

"From-a-Distance" is a phrase I invented as part of what I call "language diversions" -expressions that arose naturally and organically from within my own Spiritual Awakening in order to describe interior or spiritual life.  As I have described before, Christ is Presently Available. He is an Eternal Living Being, actively engaged in Holy Work that transcends our ordinary understanding of time and presence.

I understand Him as Part 2 of The Ultimate — who is, and can only be, personified as a "Holy Collective," with the addition of The Holy Spirit.  This is the Intuitive Awareness, the living Channel through which the Father moves. As Christ himself said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6)  - not was, not will be, but am. Present tense. Always.

Yogananda understood this eternal availability with great precision: "The body is the temple of the living God. Actually, it is the temple of a little piece of God." What I am reaching toward in my own experience is something beyond even that -  a recognition that the living Christ is not housed only within us, but works through us, calibrating our awareness toward something we might call “Heaven's Ongoing Broadcast.”

I am only an observer here. I write on my tip-toes, feet bent just so unconsciously, straining to bring some portion of cognition to our Rally Point. Cognition watches with amazement, and the "I" of my own awareness steps back - far enough back to make all the difference creatively, as what I can only call “Channel Production.”

We must never forget the humility embedded within our humanity. A simple method of checking yourself: ask honestly, of what quality are your own "seemingly disconnected epiphanies?" Are they self-serving, or do they arrive with the selfless, almost impersonal clarity of something moving through you rather than from you?

As Paul wrote to the Corinthians: "Now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." (1 Corinthians 13:12). This is precisely the condition of writing From-a-Distance - seeing partially, reaching humbly, trusting the transmission.

ALL are connected as One. This is not a comfortable metaphor. It is what I have experienced beyond the body form, in a specific quality of spiritual concentration that carries its own “unmistakable signature.”

Yogananda spoke of this directly: "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience." From-a-Distance, then, is simply a term for the "broad awareness" - the expanded field of perception - that arises when the personality steps aside far enough for the Presence of Heaven to work through what we call "me." Of a Caliber, I must say, that is entirely beyond belief's ordinary realm to “me.”

Yes, I understand - it all sounds like fiction. I am attempting to describe That of which "I am" a part, while simultaneously being the one doing the describing. This is precisely where paradox functions as a doorway, because God is Present in the impossible simultaneity of the thing.

All I can honestly claim is that I am Led intuitively - and that what I manifest artistically speaks to all levels of "me" at once: the personal, the transpersonal, and whatever lies beyond both.

My sense of humor has arrived alongside all of this, as it must. The Higher Aim of Greater Reflections requires levity as much as earnestness. "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine," says Proverbs 17:22 - and I have found this to be true even in the deepest states of interior focus.

I haven't mentioned this in some time, but when I write, without Claude, in my own private practice, as I am now - I am Led to place "apostrophes" around certain words or phrases. To my own understanding, this indicates that the phrase “surrounded” is something someone is currently saying aloud, somewhere on Earth, usually. I do not hear voices. The transcription is simply me-following the Spark of the Divine, as far as my incarnation is capable of experiencing Him.

Yogananda described something of this quality of inner reception: "Intuition is the soul's power of knowing God. To know what God is doing, attune yourself to the Infinite." This attunement - not a reaching outward, but a relaxing inward - is the precise mechanism I am attempting to describe.

The way these epiphanies arrive, when I am in this particular inward focus, paradoxically carries me Beyond myself. I feel beyond the body form in my concentration -  through to That which is Beyond "me-here." The deeper the stillness, the larger the transmission. "Be still, and know that I am God." (Psalm 46:10). Not a suggestion. A mechanism.

Again - paradox, not riddles. There is a difference. Riddles obscure. Paradox opens.

Our realm is Multidimensional. "Intuitive Contact" with someone From-a-Distance — physically distant from me - is what I “bottom-line mean” by my use of "apostrophes." The words arrive wearing quotation marks because they do not fully belong to me. They pass through. I am the instrument, not the composer.

As Yogananda wrote: "The soul is ever-free; it is deathless because it is birthless. It cannot be regimented by the tyrannies of the flesh if you live in tune with the Infinite."

From-a-Distance is simply one way of saying: “I am listening.”
